Garbage Collection Information
🎄 Holiday Garbage Collection Notice 🎄
Please be advised that garbage collection will follow the regular schedule throughout the holiday season, except on Christmas Day (December 25th).
Christmas Day
Please note: There will be no garbage collection on Christmas Day.
All garbage scheduled for that day will be collected the following week.
We appreciate your understanding and wish all residents a safe and happy holiday season!

Tuesday: Madoc Village
Wednesday: South of the Village to Slab Street
Thursday: Slab Street and South
Garbage must be out for collection by 7:00 am on your pickup day.
Use of clear bags is mandatory – maximum of 2 clear bags per residential household. Blue "clear bags" are not accepted. The maximum weight per garbage bag needs to be no more than 40lb. Garbage bag tags are required as of July 1, 2023. Please visit our dedicated Bag Tags webpage for full details on the program.
Monday – Private Lanes
Garbage must be out for collection by 7:00 am on your pickup day.
Please Note: "Collection of recyclable and collectible household garbage will occur on all statutory holidays, with the exception of Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Any routes affected by Christmas Day and Boxing Day statutory holidays will be collected when regular service resumes the following week (By-Law 2023-16, S.4.0 g).”
These guidelines are being put in place as a precautionary measure to protect the health of collectors who handle thousands of receptables each week. Please protect your collector and take caution in handling your garbage.
- Place used tissues and napkins securely in a garbage bag.
- Wash your hands afterwards.
- Used liners for food waste should be placed securely inside the garbage bag.
- Do not place waste loosely in garbage containers
- If you are sick – place ANY item that has come into contact with your mouth, nose or eyes into a secure garbage bag.
- Bag all waste. Garbage bags must be tied tightly
- If you visit the landfill site please remember to practice social distancing and where possible refrain from making payments using cash.

The Municipality of Centre Hastings is not responsible for the collection or management of recycling services. Under Ontario’s Blue Box Transition, responsibility for recycling has been transferred to the Government of Ontario.
E360 Solutions is the contracted service provider responsible for recycling collection within the Municipality of Centre Hastings.
