Position: 

Reporting to the Parks, Recreation and Facilities Supervisor and the Director of Public Works, the Parks, Recreation and Facilities Attendant is responsible for assisting in the implementation and general maintenance of on-going operations of the parks, recreation and municipally owned facilities for the Municipality of Centre Hastings. The successful candidate will be expected to take initiative, lead by example with seasonal staff, and proactively identify and address safety and maintenance issues. This role is physically demanding and requires the ability to lift and operate equipment, perform outdoor work in varying conditions, and work at a steady pace.

Education and Experience:

  • Must possess an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)
  • Possess Basic Arena Refrigeration or a “B” Certificate in Refrigeration, or willingness to obtain
  • Certified Ice Technician (CIT) designation an asset
  • Working knowledge of basic refrigeration, ice making and maintenance
  • Possess, or willingness to obtain, propane handling certificate
  • Working knowledge of grounds keeping equipment, operation, and maintenance
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and to provide direction to seasonal/part-time staff
  • Valid Ontario G class drivers’ license (current Driver Abstract is required to be submitted with resume)
  • Demonstrated computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet Explorer)
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ work experience in a related field is an asset.

Position: 

Reporting to the Head Skating Instructor, the Skating Instructor is responsible for providing direct instruction to children, youth and adults in the Municipality’s Skating Programs, ensuring participant safety, skill development, and program quality. This position requires weekend availability during the skating season (Saturday’s 9am – 11am)

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum 15 years of age and currently enrolled in or completed high school.
  • Experienced skater (figure skating or hockey).
  • Previous experience as a skating instructor or assistant.
  • Skate Canada CanSkate or NCCP certification considered an asset.
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR “C” certification.
  • Successful completion of a Vulnerable Sector Police Reference Check (required prior to employment).
