Municipality of Centre Hastings Launches Small Town, Big Respect Campaign with Community Respect Pledge (August 27th,2026)

The Municipality of Centre Hastings is proud to announce the official launch of the Small Town, Big Respect Campaign through the signing of the Community Respect Pledge by members of Municipal Council on August 27, 2026.

This campaign marks the beginning of a community-wide effort to promote respect, inclusion, kindness, and civility throughout Centre Hastings. The timing of the launch is especially meaningful as local youth prepare to return to school, sports programs resume, and community organizations begin their fall activities.

The Small Town, Big Respect Campaign was created to encourage residents to take an active role in building a more welcoming and respectful community. The initiative recognizes that respect starts with everyday actions and that everyone has a role to play in creating safe, positive, and inclusive spaces.

By signing the Community Respect Pledge, Council has demonstrated its commitment to fostering a culture where all individuals are treated with dignity and respect regardless of age, background, beliefs, abilities, or personal differences.

The campaign encourages residents, businesses, service clubs, sports teams, faith groups, youth organizations, schools, and community partners to join the movement by taking the pledge and becoming ambassadors of respect within the community.

The Community Respect Pledge promotes several key principles, including:

  • Treating all individuals with kindness, courtesy, and respect.
  • Creating welcoming and inclusive environments for everyone.
  • Rejecting bullying, discrimination, harassment, and hate.
  • Encouraging positive communication both in person and online.
  • Supporting community members and celebrating diversity.
  • Leading by example through respectful actions and behaviours.
