Modified Open Air Burning Restrictions Now In Effect

Modified Open Air Burning Restrictions Now In Effect

Effective immediately, the Municipality of Centre Hastings is moving to Modified Open Air Burning Restrictions due to the forecasted high-impact heat event affecting our region.

The following restrictions are now in effect:

• No open air burning is permitted between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.

• This restriction applies to all outdoor burning, including fires that would normally be permitted under the Centre Hastings Open Air Burning By-law.

• Burning may only take place between 7:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m., provided all other provisions of the Open Air Burning By-law are followed.

The decision has been made in response to a high-impact heat event being tracked by Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC). Hot, dry conditions significantly increase the risk of fire spread and place additional demands on emergency services.

These restrictions are being implemented in coordination with neighbouring municipalities to promote consistent fire safety measures throughout the region.

We appreciate everyone's cooperation in helping protect our community. Please use extra caution with any outdoor activities that could create sparks or ignition sources during this period.

For updates on burning restrictions, please continue to monitor the Centre Hastings Fire Department's official communication channels.
