Heat Warning in Effect: Cooling Stations Available for Residents

 

Environment and Climate Change Canada advises that a significant heat event continues across Centre Hastings and Ontario, with daytime temperatures reaching 30°C to 37°C and humidex values between 38 and 45. Residents are encouraged to take precautions to protect themselves and others from heat-related illness.

Cooling Stations Available

📍 Municipal Office (7 Furance Street, Madoc ON)
Monday–Thursday: 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Friday: 8:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

📍 Madoc Public Library (20 Davidson St, Madoc, ON)
Open Tuesday–Saturday during regular operating hours.

These facilities are available to the public as air-conditioned cooling spaces.

Heat Safety Reminders

  • Stay hydrated by drinking water regularly.
  • Wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing.
  • Limit outdoor activity during the hottest part of the day.
  • Check on seniors, individuals living alone, and other vulnerable residents.
  • Never leave children or pets in parked vehicles.

Please remain alert for signs of heat-related illness, including dizziness, nausea, headache, fatigue, and confusion. In the event of a medical emergency, call 9-1-1 immediately.
