Fire Prevention Week 2026: For Tools and Rides, Charge Outside.
The Municipality of Centre Hastings and the Centre Hastings Fire Department are proud to once again partner with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA®) to recognize Fire Prevention Week, taking place October 4-10, 2026.
This year's theme, "Charge into Fire Safety™: Safe Charging Is a Superpower!", highlights the importance of using and charging batteries and electronic devices safely at home, at work, and on the go.
For Tools and Rides, Charge Outside.
Whenever possible, charge larger battery-powered items such as e-bikes, e-scooters, and power tools outdoors or in well-ventilated areas. Never charge these devices in a way that blocks doorways, hallways, or exits.
These batteries store a significant amount of energy. If a battery becomes damaged or fails, it can overheat and a fire can spread quickly. Keeping charging areas clear and choosing safe locations can help reduce the risk of injury and property damage.
A few simple precautions can go a long way in protecting your home, family, and community.
Stay tuned throughout Fire Prevention Week as we share more fire safety tips to help everyone in Centre Hastings stay safe.
