Emergency Preparedness Week 2026: Prepared Together in Centre Hastings

Emergency Preparedness Week

The Municipality of Centre Hastings joins communities across Ontario in recognizing Emergency Preparedness Week, from May 3 to 9, 2026, by encouraging residents to “prepare together” for potential emergencies. By working together, families, friends, and neighbourhoods can expand their access to emergency resources and supports to improve their level of preparedness.

In addition to making a plan, building an emergency kit, and knowing how to stay informed during an emergency, the municipality is recommending residents build a support system by meeting and connecting with neighbours or other possible social groups to consider and discuss:

📋 sharing skills and available resources
📱 exchanging contact information
👥 creating a buddy system for check-ins and support
🚨 developing emergency plans together
🏘️ identifying a safe, shared gathering location
✅ assigning simple roles (such as checking utilities or sharing updates)

Working together helps ensure no one is left without support when it matters most.
