Spring Water Safety Reminder

As the weather warms and ice begins to melt, we urge everyone to stay safe around bodies of water. Ice conditions can be unpredictable, and cold water is extremely dangerous.

Safety Tips:

• Avoid walking on melting ice – It may appear solid, but spring ice is weak and can break easily.
• Keep children and pets away from shorelines – Fast-moving water and thin ice pose serious risks.
• Be cautious near rivers and streams – Spring runoff can lead to higher water levels and strong currents.

If someone falls through the ice, call 9-1-1 immediately. Do not attempt to rescue yourself—use a long object to reach them or throw something that floats.
